My 5 Go-To Natural Hair Products

June 23, 2018Autumn

There aren’t very many natural hair products that I use in my hair, in actuality as soon as I use a product and I fall in love it’s hard for me to let it go. Over the last 5 years, I have tried hundreds of brands and products always searching for the best or what will work best for my mane. One of the questions I get asked often is what I put in my hair or what I am using to achieve a certain look so here’s My 5 Go-To Natural Hair Products.

This post may contain affiliate links,  I assure you that I only recommend
products & services that I love. Please see my full policies here.

Each and every product listed here I use on a daily, weekly or monthly basis for my hair and some of them I use on my daughter as well. Each head of hair is different so that clearly means that what works for me might not work for you so it’s best that you use this list as a guide for products you may want to try but I cannot promise you that it will give the same results.

While the list below goes into detail my favorite products I do recommend reading up on my 3 simple natural hair growth tips as well where I go into details about what I do to get my hair to keep growing without really doing much at all.

My 5 Go-To Natural Hair Products

Eden Body Works Peppermint Tea Tree

Shampoo for natural hair

As you can clearly see from this empty bottle I love this all natural shampoo. The Peppermint Tea Tree Shampoo is a perfect clarifying shampoo for natural hair. I shampoo wash my hair once a month followed by a homemade deep condition (recipe soon come). I also use this to prep my hair for braids whenever I am going to protective style my hair and know that it will be kept up in a style for while.

The shampoo is paraben and sulfate free which is great for natural hair, I like to use products that are all natural and protect my hair. I want to keep as many harmful chemicals out my hair as possible aside from the color & highlights in my hair. A surefire way for you to keep this up is to read the labels of all products and research what you choose to lather on your mane!

Carol’s Daughter Rhassoul Clay Softening Hair Mask

It’s only right that after I give you my favorite shampoo that I follow up with my favorite deep treatment mask! Right now Carol’s Daughter Rhassoul Clay Softening Hair Mask is my go-to product for softening and moisturizing my hair after a shampoo.  The directions note to leave this in for 15 minutes before washing out but I leave it in for about an hour whilst I am doing housework, dealing with the kids or just relaxing.

First I put my hair into four sections and make sure to get the mask all over my head and hair and then I put it up in a bun to work its magic. It’s been working wonders for keeping my hair soft over the last 9 months and I think I’ll keep it around.

Giovanni Direct Leave-In Conditioner

The Giovanni Direct Leave-in Conditioner is life, why? Because it’s lightweight but leaves your hair moisturized consistently. I have been using this product since my first big chop in 2013 and I have no plans of stopping. I continue to buy it because it has not failed me in all the years that I have been putting it on my hair. It gives your curls just the bounce you need after you’ve washed or co-washed your hair.

Sometimes when I am doing a wash and go or not doing a style this is the only product I’ll put in my hair and keep it moving!

Creme Brulee for Kinks Curls and Coils Curling and Twisting Cream

THIS!!!!! Another product I have been using since 2013 when I had my first big chop and will never stop using. I actually got this in sample size at a natural hair event in the Bay Are and at the time my hair wasn’t long enough for twist outs so I let it sit for awhile and then one day I used it as a leave-in conditioner and the smell and softness just kept me going back year after year.

The Creme Brulee is an everyday leave-in moisturizer with ingredients hand selected for beautiful healthy hair. The formula starts with an infusion of healing herbs such as rosemary, burdock, and Marshmallow root. Murumuru Butter, Aloe butter, Shea Butter, Coconut Oil and Grapeseed oil add shine, moisture, and protection. In total, an infusion of 13 premium natural ingredients creates a light cream texture that is perfect for all natural hair types. When used on wet or dry hair, the Creme Brulee can actually change the texture of your hair from straw to silk making it soft and manageable

Whenever I am doing a twist or braid style in my hair I always use this product because the results are amazing, and the smell is also pleasant. Girl, you bette get chu one!

Coconut Oil

Natural Hair coconut oil

Coconut oil is the end all be all of the products on this planet. You can literally use it on just about anything including your food, your hair, your body, your cuts and more. Find out about the 77 best uses for coconut oil and tell me again how much it’s working wonders for you.

So it should come as no surprise that it’s on my go-to list of products to use because I will always have coconut oil in my house! I use this oil after a wash or cowash and its also in my refresh and revive spritz bottle that I literally carry in my purse or leave in my car depending on the event!

So that’s my top 5 – as a natural hair girl, I have to be honest and let you know that I do use more than these 5 but I just wanted to tell you my top and the ones I use on an everyday or consistent basis! I’ll make sure to keep sharing my curly hair tips, products, and my POV, BUT what works for me might not work for you so please experiment.

When I first big chopped I followed girls on YT and purchased everything they said and some things worked and some things didn’t. First, you’ll have to kiss a few frogs before finding products that work for your hair and your hair type. But you’ll find your hair groove and slay with your fro!

Are you a curly girl? Share with me some of your favorite products or maybe some of these are already on your list, I would love to hear about it – drop a comment below!

I have yet to find products that my hair loves so I’ll have to check some of these out! I for sure use coconut oil, though. That is one of my staples!

Can’t go wrong without some good old-fashioned coconut oil.

As a fellow curly haired gal, I loved reading this post so much. I am still searching the shelves for products that work well with my hair. One product I do love –surprisingly– us Kristin Ess’ Hair Water. I picked it up on a whim but it has turned into a staple product for me.

    Great read! x
